Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/31/2022
Joining once again, in collaboration with the Montreal Canadiens, Classic Auctions is pleased to offer a large collection of artifacts and memorabilia from the storied club’s comprehensive archives. A number of historic specimens direct from the famous team including unique displays that were once marvelously displayed in the hallowed Montreal Forum and later at the Bell Centre are available, with an endless array of legendary and monumental players featured that all proudly once donned the sacred jersey of the mighty Montreal Canadiens.
The 2016-17 NHL season would serve as the Montreal Canadiens 108th, with the Habs finishing the regular season in 1st place in the Atlantic Division, with a record of 47-26-9. Finishing only a single point apart and the first postseason meeting since 2014, the Habs would face the Blueshirts in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs, with the Rangers taking the series in six. The season was also noteworthy as the Canadiens’ 100th in the NHL. Direct from the archives of the Montreal Canadiens, we have a 2016-17 framed team photo, with this specimen most likely displayed originally at the Bell Centre (two pieces of wood have been added to the back of the frame, presumably for mounting). At approx 13 ½” x 15 ½”, the full team and management are pictured in the traditional on-ice pose, with each individual listed beneath. Double-matted and framed to full dimensions of approx 21 ½” x 23 ½”, there is just a bit of light wear to the frame to note. An LOA from Classic Auctions will be included.
