“The Hick from French Lick” is not only one of the best to ever wear the green and white for the Boston Celtics but one of the best to ever play in the National Basketball Association. Enjoying a 13-year NBA career, with Larry at the helm, the Celtics qualified for the playoffs every season with Boston winning three NBA titles in the 80’s. Additionally, Bird win three straight NBA MVP Awards and was a member of the Dream Team at the 1992 Summer Olympics. Not shy to media attention over the course of his career, Bird often found himself on the cover of Sports Illustrated as on the piece presented here. This “Celtic Pride” cover of Bird was run during the 1987 NBA Playoffs after Bird and the Celtics advanced to another Finals meeting with the Magic Johnson led Los Angeles Lakers. Signed in black marker by Bird in large format on this print of the original cover, it has been framed and matted in a simple black frame that measures in at 15” x 12” and presents well with no flaws. An Upper Deck Authentics hologram has been affixed to the corner of the piece and a matching Certificate of Authenticity will accompany the item.
