Starting out in the Negro Leagues, Hank Aaron soon made a name for himself before making his Major League Baseball debut with the Milwaukee Braves at the start of the 1954 season. His first career home run came on April 23rd of that same year and for good measure, “Hammerin Hank” went ahead and hit 754. It is number 715 that is the most significant of the 755 total that Aaron hit as that is the one that eclipsed the all-time record held by Babe Ruth. Captured here in this 1997 lithograph by Bill Purdom titled “Seven-One-Five” is the moment just after Aaron drives the ball toward the left-centre field fence at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium to break Ruth’s record. The lithograph itself is serial numbered “235/600” and is identified as such in the lower left-hand corner of the piece. Measuring in at 28 ½” x 20”, This particular piece is an Upper Deck limited edition of 44 that has been signed by Aaron in bold black marker and number “20/44”. Beautifully presented under a white matte and housed in a sleek black frame that remains in excellent condition, the piece presents beautifully and carries excellent eye appeal. An Upper Deck hologram has been affixed to the piece beside the handwritten “20/44” serial number carrying the designation of “BAG37439” and has a matching certificate of authenticity to accompany the piece.
