Impressive clean, unblemished surfaces are among the attributes of many of the cards that comprise the 1968-69 Topps set offered here, with Bobby Orr’s key #2 card amid those with appealing high grade characteristics, although a top right corner ding sends it to EX+. An unmarked checklist is very close to NM at EX-MT+, with #34-Terry Sawchuk appearing to make it to NM-MT and nicest among the legends. The Bernie Parent RC is off-centered and EX, with Hull (EX-MT+) and Howe (VG-EX+) the other most notables. Stored in 9-pocket Ultra Pro Platinum pages, the set is dominated by crease-free examples – we spot the odd crease amid the random pulls and inspected stars - with EX to NM cards showing up most often. Coming upon superior entries will be enjoyable, with likely minimal unpleasant surprises in store. A neat design and players from the six expansion teams, featured for the first time, contribute to the appeal, with varying degrees of light toning on the backs also noteworthy. Well over 300 extras will provide some fun and options, with some stars and RCs present but none of the biggies and heavy duplication at times. Condition overall is inferior – expect mostly VG-EX to EX and some intermittent moisture-like stains – with a duplicate checklist partially filled-in in pen. A nifty batch of colorful collectibles is to consider.
