The piece de resistance for any child of the early 50’s working on completing their Parkhurst hockey card sets would be this duo of albums offered by the iconic company for their sets from the 1952-53 and 1953-54 seasons. Once upon a time, youngsters of the day would be having the time of their lives filling the respective pages with the carboard images of players such as Gordie Howe, Maurice Richard, and Terry Sawchuk. The 1952-53 album (9” x 11”) features attractive cover graphics and complete set checklist on the back with all 13 of its original card sheets present and intact with spaces to display 8 cards a sheet for a 104-card total, with a slot for your personal favourite to complete the album. The 1953-54 album (9” x 10 ½”) features year and set information on the cover with a similar checklist found on the backside. Coming complete with 11 sheets containing 9 spaces per sheet for a total of 99 cards with a spot for your personal favourite to completely hold the 100 set. Both albums present well with the 1952-53 album with only light toning to the folder and pages, particularly where cards were once placed. Light creasing can be found with along the edges and at the corners. Light spot staining is found inside on the back cover in minimal quantities. A small tear is found on the upper edge of the back cover. The 1953-54 album presents similarly with toning to the folder but with slightly heavier staining as well as rusting at the staples and a tear on the inside at the spine. The inside as well as the pages remain clean with only light toning. Creasing is more prominent on the 1953-54 example throughout the piece. Both albums are free of any pen or ink marks.
