Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022

A stand out even at the ripe age of 15, Wayne Gretzky would lead the Seneca Nationals of the Metro Jr. B Hockey League to the championship that season while putting up 36 goals and 36 assists for 72 points in only 32 games played. Not bad for a 15-year-old! Featured here from that very season is a scoresheet from a game between the Seneca Nationals and Chatham Maroons on September 24th, 1976. The game would feature a rare occurrence of the season being that of Wayne Gretzky being held off the scoresheet. A 5-3 win pushed Seneca’s to date record to 4-0-2. The pink sheet of a thin parchment like paper displays beautifully and is filled with information as one would expect. Showcasing only the smallest tear at the very top of the sheet with penciled in information appearing legible and bold for the most part, the sheet becomes an excellent candidate for framing. It should be noted that an additional sheet, a plain white piece of paper is affixed to the back of the scoresheet and contains other writing, possibly to do with the game. An incredible piece of memorabilia from early in The Great One’s career, let this make a permanent home in your collection. Hailing from the collection of Shawn Chaulk, and originally acquired through collector Kevin McGuffin who in turn was gifted this and the other Seneca Nationals items offered in this auction by Toronto Nationals employee Gary Folkes (with the Nationals for a number of years, Folkes held positions with the club such as manager, assistant coach, and statistician), an LOA from Shawn Chaulk will accompany.
