Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/31/2022
Especially difficult to locate, with collectors thrilled to find even single copies, this great group of antique and vintage pulp publications with hockey covers ranges from the early-1900s to the late-1940s (there is a single 1950s specimen) and totals 51, with some duplication present. Titles include Tip-Top Weekly (12), Work and Win (5), The Champion Annual for Boys (1938 – 2, 1952, with each thick hard cover books), Top Notch (1928, thick pulp), The Popular Magazine (1922, thick pulp) and The Boys Best Weekly. There are also 28 "The Champion" publications from the 1930s/40s (published in England), with 12 featuring hockey covers, and most of the remaining 16 issues having a small cameo hockey image to the cover. The majority of the collection shows moderate wear, with some of the earlier examples showing minor damage which includes pen marks, creasing, spine wear, detached pages, etc.
