The first of five tournaments organized by Alan Eagleson that showcased the greatest hockey nations on earth, the 1976 Canada Cup featured the world’s six best competing countries battling for supremacy, with Canada meeting Czechoslovakia in a three-game final. The mighty maple leaf would prove victorious, with the Canadians winning the first two games and the series. Bobby Orr would would score two goals and an assist in the first match played at MLG, on Sept 13, 1976, with the Canadians shutting out the Czechs, 6-0. Orr would also be named MVP of the series, and was selected for the tournament All-Star team. This MLG ticket stubs hails from the first game of the final series played on Sept 13, 1976, and it is accompanied by six magazines with Orr covers including five Sports Illustrated issues from his career. The date and “Canada Cup of Hockey” appear on the stub along with the $12.00 ticket price, with advertising on the reverse from Dominion. There is a hole punched and a rough-torn edge, with a bit of creasing and discolouration to the stub. The SI issues include; Dec 11, 1967; Feb 3, 1969; May 4, 1970; Dec 21, 1970; and May 8, 1972, with light to moderate overall wear to the group.
