Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/31/2022
Flirting with the magic .400 mark on more than one occasion was Kansas City Royals' all-star third baseman George Brett, his three American League batting titles coming in three different decades (the only Major Leaguer to accomplish the feat) and rendering his first appearances on Topps cards the leaders in their respective sets. This 1975 Topps "mini" has survived in appealing crease-free condition, with a light corner ding (bottom right), light wear at all four corners and a light upper left edge ding summing up to an EX or, at best, EX+ assessment. The centering and unblemished surface are appreciated attributes, with card #228 ready to contribute to your Brett/RC/'75 Topps collection. George joins icons Aaron, Mays and Musial as the only men to total more than 3000 hits and 300 home runs, while compiling a career .300-plus batting average - outstanding!
