Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/31/2022
Backstopped by Johnny Bower and Don Simmons, with Dave Keon leading the club in points, the Toronto Maple Leafs finished in third place at the conclusion of the 1963-64 NHL season. First defeating the Canadiens in the Stanley Cup Semifinals, the Finals would go seven games, with the Leafs taking out Gordie Howe and the Detroit Red Wings. This vintage stick has been team-signed by 16 members of the 1963-64 Stanley Cup champion Toronto Maple Leafs including eight Hall of Fame members – with six that are now deceased. A generic full-size model with “14” stamped to the upper shaft and the original string accent secured by tape, 16 have signed one side of the shaft in blue ballpoint, including HOFer Bathgate, Keon, Armstrong, Bower, Mahovlich, Horton (beautiful bold example), Stanley and Red Kelly, along with Harris, Simmons, Baun, McKenney, Stewart, Shack, Brewer and Jim Pappin. A few of the signatures are a bit light including the Stewart, with just light handling wear to the stick.
