Featuring a rare No 1 vs No 2 Orange Bowl matchup with the Miami Hurricanes battling the first-place Oklahoma Sooners - with each team undefeated throughout the season, the contest occurred on Jan 1, 1988, with the independent Hurricanes beating the Big Eight Sooners 20-14 to claim the 1987 NCAA national football championship. This Miami Hurricanes 10K gold ring was presented to tight end Charles Henry. Size 10 with an approx weight of 40 grams, a large zirconia sits centered within a diamond-shaped setting within a green stone over the tableau, "National Champions" in raised slanted letters appears above and below, with "Miami" over each side of the bezel. The right shank sports an Orange Bowl logo with enameling and the regular-season record of "12-0" below, while the left shank has "Henry" above in raised letters over a Hurricanes helmet with enamel team logo and "1982" below. The inner band is stamped "HF" (Herff Jones) and "10K", with Henry's "CF" initials engraved. The rings shows wear from use, with scratches covering the band and shanks, with a few dings visible along edges.
