Celebrating a century of the Grey Cup - named for Albert Grey, 4th Earl Grey, who served as Canada's ninth Governor General, the 2012 Grey Cup featured the historic third meeting of the Toronto Argonauts and Calgary Stampeders in the championship game, which was held at Rogers Place in Toronto, on Nov 25, 2012. Toronto would put up 17 points in the second quarter, and would never look back, earning their sixteenth title with a 35-22 victory. This 2012 Toronto Argonauts Grey Cup championship 10K gold and diamond ring was presented to offensive tackle Tony Washington, who spent two seasons with the club before winning a second Grey Cup with Edmonton, in 2015. A whopping size 14.25 with a hefty weight of 85 grams, an Argo's "A" crusted with real diamonds sits raised over the tableau atop a Grey Cup, with this over a bed of diamonds, with "100th" below, and "Grey Cup" and Champions" in slanted raised letters to each respective side of the bezel. The right shank sports "Washington" in raised letters with "2012" and the Grey Cup logo from that season beneath along with number "65", while the left features the Grey Cup over the Toronto skyline along with a raised CFL logo. The inner band has the score and date engraved as well as logos from each team, with "Jostens 10K" stamped. The ring shows wear from use, with heavy rubbing to the outer band and numerous scratches to both the band and shanks, with a few small dings along edges. This heavy and stunning ring celebrating a century of Canadian football displays beautifully overall, and would be ideal for the hobby's absolute best Argos, CFL or championship ring collection.
