The legend of Patrick Roy, combined with the hobby’s heightening love affair with GEM MT 10 cards will result in lofty interest here, with this example of Patrick’s 1985-86 O-Pee-Chee rookie card indeed deemed worthy of “10” recognition upon its inspection at PSA several years ago. Roy was already a Stanley Cup champion (for the first of four times) and playoff MVP when cards like this (well, not all were flawless and featured perfect centering!), were first discovered in seven-card wax packs that cost 35 cents each. A clutch playoff performer throughout his career, Patrick had previously backstopped the Sherbrooke Canadiens to the Calder Cup championship before forging his NHL legacy, one that included three Conn Smythe Trophy wins. And now to this Patrick’s place in PSA annals; it is one of only 88 out of the more than 3,400 Roy rookies submitted to the firm since it started up to merit GEM MT 10 status. Thus, a chance to put an end to your longing for a perfect Roy RC is what is offered. Light scratches to the PSA holder include a more obvious half-inch horizontal affair that begins at the middle right edge and extends to the tip of Roy’s trapper.
