Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/31/2022
A serious collection of cards depicting hockey’s most famous #27, Frank Mahovlich, curiously totals 27 slabbed examples and like our title informs, the encapsulated representatives received marks of NM 7 or higher upon examination several or numerous years ago. The Big M’s first five Parkhurst issues are all PSA NM 7s, with his desirable 1957-58 rookie card receiving a generous grade, its corner wear surely denying such an assessment nowadays. Light scratches/scuffs to the holder are also to mention. Three NM-MT 8s are among the Parkies from the early-‘60s, while a dozen Topps entries begin chronologically with a big ’64-65 beauty (PSA NM 7 – multiple scratches to the holder), with others either NM 7, NM+ 7.5 or NM-MT 8 and SGC-slabbed cards also in the mix. Most notable is a ’66-67 Topps Test #51 card, graded NM 7 by SGC and our images telling of the rest of the Topps roster that ends in ’72-73. Half a dozen O-Pee-Chee cards include three examined by KSA and two of three WHA issues deemed worthy of MINT 9 status at PSA. Splendid complements are three modern pack pulls featuring Frank’s classic/classy autograph, while completing and bringing the grand total to 31 is a 2001-02 Be A Player jersey card graded 9 MINT by Beckett. A fantastic opportunity, this years-in-the-making stash is deserving of serious consideration.
