The Big M himself signed his three-year contract for his third, fourth and fifth NHL seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Hall-of-Famers Clarence Campbell and Punch Imlach also signed Frank Mahovlich's original framed NHL standard player's contract which paid the Leafs' scoring star $15,000 for each of the 1959-60, 1960-61 and 1961-62 seasons. Mahovlich cashed in goal scoring bonuses for at least 30 goals in the second and third years of the deal, collecting $1000 for scoring a team-record 48 goals in 1960-61, and $500 when he scored 33 the following season as Toronto went on to win its first of three straight Stanley Cups that spring. The Standard Player’s Contract is signed by NHL president Campbell on the front, with Imlach signing above Mahovlich on the bottom of the reverse, with all three signatures executed in ballpoint. Dated “October 1, 1959” and date stamped four days later by the league office, this original Frank Mahovlich Toronto Maple Leafs contract remains in excellent-plus condition, double-matted and framed to approx 14” x 23”. We should also note that the contract is inserted within the matte between glass, with the reverse housing the signatures completely visible through the glass when the backing of the frame is removed (this is easily done).
