A fan favourite throughout his time in the city of Montreal, Gary Carter spent his first decade in professional baseball with the Expos and acquired his nickname The Kid while in Quebec, with the club later retiring his number. This lot includes Carter’s autographed early-1980s game-used Expos bat and his 199th home run ball, which Gary slammed off the Mets' Ron Darling in the first game of a doubleheader at Olympic Stadium on June 9, 1984. A 35” Louisville 125 P89 signature model with deep center brand and “8” handwritten to the knob, the bat exhibits game-use with surface marks, with some light pine-tar residue visible over the handle. Carter has signed in black marker between the signature and powerized stampings. A blue ballpoint autograph sits on the sweet spot of the Rawlings official NL Feeney baseball which has "Home Run No 199" notation, with some general toning, light staining and scuffing to the ball.
