From a season that featured the club’s last pitcher to win 20 games, the Montreal Expos finished in fourth place in the National League East in 1978, with this the first season the Pearson Cup was contested between the Expos and Toronto Blue Jays. This bat issued to third baseman Larry Parrish has been team-signed by the 1978 Montreal Expos. A 36” Louisville Slugger A99 signature model with blond finish, the model number is stamped to the barrel, with “15” handwritten to the knob. “Montreal Expos” and “1978” has been handwritten to the left of the center brand in black marker, with approx 37 signatures placed over the barrel in dark ink, including Parrish, along with Gary Carter, Tony Perez, Andre Dawson, Chris Speier, Dave Cash, Warren Cromartie, Ellis Valentine, Woody Fryman, Stan Papi, Dick Williams (manager), Mickey Vernon (coach), Scott Sanderson, Bill Atkinson, Chris Speier, Dan Schatzeder, Dave Cash, Randy Miller, Del Unser, Tom Hutton and others. The signatures present well, with light handling wear to the bat. A photocopy of the original PSA/DNA LOA will accompany (the bat was authenticated as a pair along with the 1974 Expos team-signed bat also available in this auction, with the original PSA/DNA LOA accompanying that lot).
