Finishing first in the Adams Division and third in the Wales Conference, with Patrick Roy earning 36 wins with an impressive 2.36 GAA, the Montreal Canadiens defeated the Hartford Whalers in the first round of the 1992 Stanley Cup playoffs to enable a meeting with longtime rival Boston in the Division Final. This stick used by Roy has been attributed to Game 4 of the Adams Division Final, on May 9, 1992 (won by Boston, 2-0). A Victoriaville model with “P Roy” stamped the the upper shaft, the original white tape remains over the blade, paddle and knob, with heavy game-use exhibited, with wear and marks to the taped section of blade including the underside, with considerable red paint transfer over areas of the paddle and upper shaft. Numerous handwritten black marker notations in French regarding the provenance was added including the date and score.
