Scoring 103 points during his first NHL season and the obvious choice for the coveted Calder Memorial as Rookie of the Year, Dale Hawerchuk helped the Winnipeg Jets improve considerably in 1981-82, leading the club to it’s first NHL playoff berth. This stick used by the now deceased superstar during his rookie campaign in 1981-82 has been team-signed, along with signatures from a number of New York Rangers. A KOHO Custom Pro model with “Hawerchuk” stamped to the upper shaft and “10” handwritten, there is a faded date stamp with “1981” legible, with the original black tape over the blade and small black strand over the knob (Getty Image #1206356219 appears to show a matching-style knob). Approx 32 players have signed in blue ballpoint, with the Jets signers to include Hawerchuk, along with Thomas Steen, Willy Lindstrom (final Winnipeg season 1981-82), Lucien DeBlois, Barry Long, Moe Mantha, Jimmy Mann, Dave Christian, Doug Soetaert, Don Spring and others, while the signing Rangers are Phil Esposito (management), Nick Fotiu, Peter Wallin, Ron Greschner, Don Maloney, Jere Gillis, Ron Duguay and possibly others. The stick shows great game-use with wear to the underside blade and marks and wear throughout the length of the shaft. There are also two small drilled holes, most likely from a former mounting.
