One of Motor City’s most beloved and venerated athletes, Steve Yzerman captained Detroit for 19 seasons, leading the Red Wings to an unprecedented 18 playoff campaigns during his tenure, missing the postseason only once, in 1989-90. We have a stick used by the superstar during the mid-1990s. A Victoriaville APT 9050 model in solid white with red and black accents, “Yzerman 4.5” is stamped over the upper shaft, with the original white tape over the blade and red-over-white cloth wrap on the handle. Exhibiting heavy use with wear to the taped section of blade including staining, there are also numerous marks throughout the length of the shaft along with a few chips, with additional wear over the taped handle. Yzerman added a large and flowing black marker signature over the lower front side shaft at the heel. “937.12” has also been handwritten in pencil on the underside of the lower shaft.
