Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/31/2022
The recipient of four consecutive Lady Byng Memorial Trophies as the NHL’s premier gentlemanly sportsman, Pavel Datsyuk saw action in over 900 NHL regular-season contests and 250 KHL matches, with both Gagarin and Stanley Cups won by the skilled playmaker and goal scorer. From the season that witnessed the Russian superstar register his third-best career numbers of 87 points (Datsyuk would also score 87 the previous season), we have a photo-matched Detroit Red Wings jersey worn by the four-time All-Star in 2006-07. A label with “54” sizing is affixed to the collar, with embroidered Reebok and NHL crests over the reverse necklines and bottom hem respectively. Styled with the classic winged-wheel team crest with embroidered detailing, “13” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in single twill, with “Datsyuk” in individual letters arching directly over the upper reverse. Heavy game-use is exhibited, with a few puck and stick marks over the front and minor pilling to the interior. There are also numerous team repairs, with examples situated on the reverse (1) and sleeves (16). Getty Image #73956281 (March 14, 2007) has been matched to a number of black marks on the lower front of the jersey. The team patch denoting the garment as a “2nd Set” example is sewn to the inside hem, with “39739” screened to the reverse.
