Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022

A veteran of over 1,000 NHL contests, with the majority played while wearing the historic jersey of the Detroit Red Wings, Kirk Maltby spent parts of 14 seasons in Motor City and hoisted Lord Stanley's hardware four times with the club. From the 2003-04 NHL season where Maltby saw action in 79 games, we have a photo-matched Red Wings jersey worn by the Guelph native. A label with “54” sizing is affixed to the collar, with embroidered CCM and NHL crests over the reverse neckline and bottom hem respectively (there is also a team store price tag still attached). Styled with the classic winged-wheel team crest with embroidered detailing, “18” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in single twill, with “Maltby” in individual letters affixed directly to the upper reverse. The jersey also sports custom-shortened sleeves. Exhibiting nice game-use with puck and stick marks over the front and sleeves, there is also a single team repair over the right elbow. Getty Image #3445819 (March 20, 2004) has been matched to the series of black marks on the lower front of the jersey. The team patch denoting the garment as a “2nd Set” example is sewn to the inside hem.
