The clubs second showing in the Winter Classic since the inaugural contest against Buffalo in 2008, the Pittsburgh Penguins battled arch-rival Washington in the 2011 installment of the popular event. This Penguins Winter Classic jersey was worn in the second period by Paul Martin (the defenceman earned a minor penalty during the first period). A label with “56” sizing is affixed to the collar, with “Winter Classic January 1st 2011” screened-on, along with NHL and Reebok crests on the front and back necklines respectively. Featuring the vintage-style Penguins team crest, the tie-neck garment features “7” sewn to the sleeves and verso in layered drop-shadow tackle twill, with the Winter Classic crest over the right breast. Worn for a single period, the jersey exhibits very light wear, with a few small marks over the reverse number. The Winter Classic team patch resides on the inside hem along with a crest from MeiGray numbered “H05953”, and according to the MeiGray population report, the jersey is a "Navy Retro Winter Classic Period 2 - Team Set" specimen.
