Leading the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds to the club’s first Memorial Cup championship in 1991, goaltender Kevin Hodson signed with Detroit in 1993 and spent seasons in Adirondack before seeing action in 4 games with the Red Wings in 1995-96, and another 6 in 1996-97. From the Winnipeg native’s rookie season in 1997-98 where he appeared in 21 games, we have a Red Wings jersey worn by Hodson. Nike and Center Ice labels with “58G” sizing are affixed to the collar, with embroidered NHL and Nike crests over the reverse bottom hem. Styled with the classic winged-wheel team crest with embroidered detailing, the V-neck sweater has been accented with “31” sewn to the sleeves and verso in single twill, with “Hodson” arching across the upper reverse in individual red twill letters. The jersey also sports custom-shortened sleeves, light pilling, and a team repair over the hem on the front band. The VK&SM patch for Vladimir Konstantinov and Sergei Mnatsakanov resides over the right breast. Exhibiting light game-use, there are a few random marks visible, with a large tear to the right cuff with some missing material. The team patch is screened to the inside hem, and it denotes the garment as a “2nd Set” specimen.
