Hailing from North Pole, Alaska, goaltender Josh Blackburn backstopped the Big 10 Michigan Wolverines during his college years, and was a member of the 1999 All-CCHA Rookie and CCHA All-Tournament teams, as well as the 2001 All-CCHA Second Team and 2002 CCHA All-Tournament Team. Blackburn would later serve as a goaltending consultant and coach. From his time with the Wolverines, we have a signed mask worn by Blackburn in 1998-99. Produced by Warwick, with the Michigan paint scheme executed by Bishop (a logo with “1999” appears beneath the left ear, with additional Warwick information handwritten to the interior), with “Josh Blackburn 9-25-99” also handwritten to the reverse chin. “Blackie” and “29” appear over the backplate along with an American flag, with Blackburn adding a blue marker signature over the forehead that shows smudging/areas of loss. The mask itself exhibits heavy game-use with numerous scratches, marks and edge chips, with a small areas of the chin section repaired/painted over. There is also a bit of soiling to the mouth guard. A Bauer storage/carry bag is also included.
