The Great One and Super Mario headline this mixed bag, with cards from the 1980s carrying more weight and appeal than their earlier counterparts. Regular Gretzky issues are from 1981-82 (Topps)(NM+) and ’82-83 (OPC)(NM), as well as ’87-88 OPC, with three of the latter including two NMs. An ’81-82 #125-Super Action card (EX-MT) is best among the “specials” while one of two ’83-84 Oilers Highlight cards is heavily creased. Second-year Lemieux ’86-87 O-Pee-Chee cards are EX and VG+, while two from the following season come in at NM and VG. Mario’s Rookie Scoring Leaders card also contributes twice (EX+, VG+), while notable rookie cards from the ‘80s are ’81-82 Topps versions of Denis Savard (EX-MT) and Jari Kurri (EX+), along with OPCs of Chris Chelios (EX), Brett Hull (suspect, with no yellow dot on the push-pin) and Joe Sakic (2)(NM, G). Stars Messier, Coffey, Bourque, Hawerchuk and Yzerman are also in the mix, while (25) ‘70s cards are rather uninspiring, with however a ’77-78 Bobby Orr (EX-MT) noteworthy and a VG ’76-77 Orr also present. A Don Cherry OPC RC has a welt and back damage, but no creasing affects the coach’s image. Eight of nine ’61-62 Parkhurst cards average VG, with 15-Harris trimmed, the same as ’62-63 18-Mahovlich. An EX-looking ’68-69 OPC Gary Unger RC has two staple holes, with tape stains visible on the fronts of six ’70-71 Deckle Edge inserts. A few miscellaneous cards complete – check out our images and let us know if good for you.
