The classic battle for world hockey supremacy, the 1972 Canada-Russia Series will be forever remembered as the ultimate clash between western and eastern powers, with the Canadians victorious, retaining their dominance over the Soviets and the sport at large. This rare Russian program for the tournament features the signatures of approx 48 participants (32 Canadian and 16 Russian). A simple fold-over affair at 8 ½” x 11” when folded, Canadian and Russian flags grace the cover along with text in Cyrillic, with the interior featuring cameo images of members of each nation. The signatures have all been placed over or near each respective image in matching ballpoint, including Orr, Dryden, Henderson, Clarke, Dionne, Park, Cournoyer, Gilbert, Hull, Redmond, Lapointe, Ratelle, White, Parise, Tallon, White, Seiling, Berenson, Glennie, Ellis, Sinden, Ferguson, Awrey and Cashman, along with the Mahovlich and Esposito brothers. The Russian signers include Tretiak, Kharlamov, Mikhailov, Maltsev, Mishakov, Tsygankov, Shadrin, Vikulov, Bodunov, Petrov, Lutchenko and others. The program shows heavy wear, with toning and creasing, with the one-third of the spine separated.
