Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022

Using Northland model sticks throughout his lengthy tenure with the Detroit Red Wings as per the licensing agreement during the Original Six era that insured American clubs used Northland, while the Canadian teams employed CCM, Gordie Howe later used both Northland and Sher-wood models while in the WHA late in his iconic career. This lots offer a group of modern Northland replica sticks signed by Howe totaling six, along with a matching Northland model signed by fellow HOFer George Armstrong. All matching straight-blade “Northland Pro” models with “G. Howe” over each upper shaft (one stick sports a different striping accent and different style name stamping), each has been signed on the blade – mostly in blue marker (five of the sticks also have been signed with “Mr Hockey”, with a heart and arrow added to one stick). The Armstrong stick is a matching model Northland, signed in blue marker, but with no name over the upper shaft. The group shows just light handling wear with a few of the Howe signatures somewhat shaky, late-in-life examples, with one of the Howe sticks also showing a few drilled holes, most likely from a former display/mounting. With Howe passing away in 2016, the break-up value to the group is considerable.
