Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/31/2022
Tied with the legendary Gordie Howe for most NHL seasons played all-time with 26, Chris Chelios appeared in more NHL regular-season games than any defenseman in history. We have a signed stick used by the 2013 HOF inductee during the late-1990s/early-2000s with Detroit. A Sher-Wood PMPX 9950 model with “Chris Chelios 24” factory graphics along with “Handcrafted exclusively for Chris Chelios” along the underside, the original black tape has been removed from the blade, with the white tape over the knob intact. The NHL striping accent is in place, and we should note white paint was applied to the top side of the shaft from the heel to mid-way up, with Getty Image #492105 (Oct 19, 1999) showing a matching example. “Detroit” is also stamped to the lower shaft. Sporting light game-use with marks to the shaft, there is also a small dab of silicone or glue near the signature on the blade. Chelios has signed over the front side blade in black marker, with the signature displaying well.
