Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/31/2022
The current record holder for most NHL games played by a defenseman, Chris Chelios enjoyed an especially lengthy career that included 26 seasons of premier league hockey, with a trio of James Norris Trophies earned along with selection to 16 All-Star Games. This stick was used by the legendary blueliner in 1987-88, his fifth NHL season with the Montreal Canadiens. A Sher-Wood 7000 PMP model, “Chelios” and “24” are stamped to the upper shaft, with the original black tape from the blade removed, with the tape intact over the knob. The striping accent is gone, with “1206” handwritten to the lower shaft. Nice game-use is exhibited, with tape residue to the blade and chipping at the toe, with heavier wear to the shaft. There is also some tape missing from the upper shaft.
