Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022

Stepping down as the GM of the Detroit Red Wings the morning of this writing, Steve Yzerman enjoyed a long relationship with the Original Six club that included 22 seasons as a player – with the majority as captain. From his first of five 50-goal seasons, we have a signed stick used by the superstar with Detroit in 1987-88. A Titan TPM 2020 model with “S Yzerman” stamped to the upper shaft, there is a date code of “187812” stamped (Dec 18, 1987), with the original black tape over the blade and worn/tattered red cloth on the shaved handle. The stick exhibits a bit of wear to the taped section of blade, with surface wear, marks and red paint transfer to the shaft along with a bit of glue residue. There is also handwritten text on the lower reverse shaft that appears to read "Steve, keep up the good job M.M.", with Yzerman and Bob Probert signing in black marker, with a second large blue marker Yzerman signature added at the heel.
