One of the greatest defensemen of the modern era of the National Hockey League and the sport itself, Nicklas Lidstrom spent his entire NHL career patrolling the blueline in Motown with the Detroit Red Wings, winning four Stanley Cup Championships along the way. Offered here is the jersey the seven-time Norris Trophy winner donned at home during the latter half of the 1996-97 season, one that concluded with the Red Wings hoisting the Stanley Cup. Produced by Nike and in Lidstrom’s familiar size 52 as identified by the Nike Sports and Center Ice Authentic Collection tagging in the neck. This particular jersey is riddled with game-use throughout including puck marks, stick marks, board burns, paint transfers, and multiple team repairs, with some staining to the number over the left sleeve. On the left sleeve are two of the aforementioned team repairs on the bicep and elbow, with a similar repair to the elbow of the right sleeve. Affixed to the inside hem, you will find the Red Wings “2nd Set” team stamp with equipment manager Paul Boyer’s signature to denote it as an official game jersey. The reverse 5 has been boldly signed by Lidstrom in black Sharpie and presents beautifully on the back drop of this well-used classic Red Wings sweater.
