Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/3/2024
Perhaps the greatest player the game of hockey and the National Hockey League has ever seen, Mario Lemieux needs no introduction and during the 1980s and 1990s was the only one capable of holding a candle with the likes of Wayne Gretzky and his greatness. A two-time Stanley Cup champion as a player and inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1997, offered here is this pair of skates worn and signed by Lemieux during the period of the mid-1990s. CCM VT652 Super Tacks model boots with ICM Super Steel blade holders, Lemieux's number "66" has been penned over the bottom of each skate in black marker ink that displays well. Measuring out to roughly a size "11" for their efforts (the size stamps on the inside of each ankle have been worn off with time), both skates retain their original insoles, laces and steel blades. Signed by "Super Mario" over the outside portion of each skate with vintage black marker ink signatures that display with some wear, the skates themselves show moderate use including numerous cuts, scrapes, scuffs and dark puck marks over both as well as some light/small coloured marks. With the blades of both skates showing light rusting, a JSA Auction LOA will be included with the lot for the signatures.
