Completely dominating by winning almost 25 percent of the total medals won at the 1936 Olympic Games including 33 gold, the host Germans under the leadership of Adolf Hitler built a number of state-of-the-art venues for the multi-sport event, with this the first Olympic Games to feature the now iconic torch relay from Olympia in Greece to the host venue. This attractive and rare enamel car badge designed to be mounted to a vehicle grill was produced for the games, and is 3 ½” in diameter and features the logo of the 1936 Winter Olympics including the Olympic rings and mountain backdrop, with “IV Olympische Winterspiele” (IV Olympic Winter Games) above and “Garmisch-Partenkirchen” (Bavaria) below. The reverse is stamped “Breiherr Garmisch” at the base. Displaying beautifully, there is a tiny bit of damage beneath the “6” of “36”, with some minor discolouration and oxidation to the reverse along with a small blemish.
