This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/31/2022
A Stanley Cup champion in each of his first three seasons which included scoring the overtime Cup winner in 1951, Bill Barilko is well known to Toronto Maple Leafs supporters and Canadian hockey fans at large, with his tragic disappearance immortalized in verse by The Tragically Hip. This photo showcasing his famous winner vs the Habs in Game 5 of the 1951 Stanley Cup final has been signed by six of the eight participants. At 8" x 10” and depicting Barilko in mid-air, six players have signed beneath their respective image in matching thin blue ink, including deceased HOFers Tom Johnson, Butch Bouchard and Harry Watson, along with Howie Meeker, Cal Gardner and Gerry McNeil. The signatures display beautifully. A hologram has been affixed to the bottom right, with an LOA from Classic Auctions to accompany.
