Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/20/2022
A rematch of the past season, with the regular-season champion Detroit Red Wings again meeting the third-place Toronto Maple Leafs in the Stanley Cup finals, the 1948-49 season would be just the second title appearance for the legendary Gordie Howe, and despite the legend scoring 11 points in 11 games, the blue and white would take the series four-straight. The MLG program was produced for Game 3, played on April 13, 1949, won by the Leafs' 3-1. Featuring Teeder Kennedy on the cover along with the original .25 cent purchase price, the thick 80-page affair contains numerous period ads including from CCM and Spalding, with Max Bentley advertising for Sammy Taft's Hat Shop in Toronto. The line-up listing the date is intact, with creases visible and toning to the interior and minor wear along the spine, with all pages remaining firmly attached.
