Fondly referred to as the Blueshirts during the era for the team's navy blue sweaters, the New York Rangers entered the NHL in 1926-27 to compete with Gotham’s cross-town Americans, and earned their first Stanley Cup championship in just the franchise’s second season. This Madison Square Garden program collection of 11 spans from the 1930s to 1950s and features mostly Rangers matches. Included, we have specimens from Nov 13, 1938 Americans vs Boston (won by NY 2-1, the program is in high grade, with the Red Dutton premium photo intact), Jan 1, 1942 vs Leafs (tie game 3-3, with intact line-up and Norman Tustin premium photo - heavy wear), Nov 19, 1944 vs Montreal (won by NY 7-5, with Elmer Lach netting four points, with line-up insert and Phil Watson premium photo intact), Feb 11, 1945 vs Montreal (won by Montreal 4-3, with Lach scoring a pair of goals, line-up insert and Kilby McDonald premium photo intact), Feb 13, 1949 vs Toronto (won by the Leafs 3-0, with Max Bentley scoring a pair and Turk Broda earning the shutout, line-up insert and Tony Leswick premium photo intact), Oct 30, 1949 vs Toronto (won by the Leafs' 4-2, with Bill Barilko scoring a pair, line-up and Buddy O'Connor premium photo intact), Dec 31, 1950 vs Boston (won by the Rangers 4-1, line-up insert and Don Raleigh premium photo intact), Dec 30, 1951 vs Leafs (tie game, 2-2, with just the program covers and insert intact with line-up and Hy Buller premium photo), Nov 18, 1953 vs Chicago (won by the Rangers 3-1, line-up insert and Hy Buller premium photo intact - heavy wear), and Nov 23, 1955 vs Boston (won by the Rangers 4-0, with Gump Worsley earning the shutout - covers detached).
