Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022

Some say that sports cards were made to have fun with and there’s plenty of evidence that plenty of fun was had with the batch of 1951-52 Parkies up for grabs here, with a dozen cards, including Terry Sawchuk’s rookie, having been “colored” by a youngster and all showing evidence on the back of having once been glued. The Sawchuk RC (1 POOR) and Tom Johnson and Allan Stanley RCs (both 1.5 FAIR) have been assessed and encapsulated by ACA, a Montreal-based grading firm, with all other entries also P or F due to the back damage and varying degrees/amounts of creasing. Rocket Richard’s key rookie card displays well for a low grade example, with no unsightly creases and only light creasing affecting a Doug Harvey RC. Other most notables are Hall of Famers Lach, Max Bentley, Broda, Schmidt and Black Jack Stewart, as well as RCs of Lumley, Rayner, Henry, McNeil, Meeker and Roy Conacher and our images telling of the rest of the roster, with half a dozen roughed-up ’52-53s also in the mix. Some respectable-looking classics will be a comparative inexpensive trip back in time – the Rocket and company still have some fun/enjoyment left in them!
