Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022

An interesting little stack of O-Pee-Chee cards available here suggests that someone lost interest after collecting the 1st Series in 1968-69 but did see things through, completing the initial 132-card series. Respectable ensemble features cards mostly in the VG to VG-EX range, with EX and sub-VG examples also present. Headlining are Bobby Orr’s #2 (VG) card, as well as Bernie Parent’s rookie card. The Orr has, like some others, a notorious diamond cut and a light top-to-bottom back crease (to the right of Bobby’s head and running through his jersey number), to go along with edge/corner wear, while enough corner wear sends the crease-free Parent RC to VG+. Notables without creases and in the VG-EX to EX realm are 6-Sanderson, 7-Esposito, 16-Hull, 64-Redmond RC and 123-Horton, with 29-Howe (VG) affected by a subtle factory-produced horizontal wrinkle sometimes observed with ’68-69 OPCs. A 1st Series checklist is creased and filled-in, while 61-2nd Series is an unmarked VG contributor with a couple of light creases. Most notable among condition exceptions is a multi-creased #1 card of Doug Harvey. From the beginning of an O-Pee-Chee era, these popular classics await their new appreciative home.
