Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022

One of baseball's most important and coveted rookie cards of the 1950s is that of Dodger legend Sandy Koufax, with a captivating encapsulated example here to admire and contemplate. The white borders and immaculate-looking surface are appreciated attributes, although KSA eyes recently spotted a trim job, hence the "A TRIM" that appears on the label. Our eyes can spot evidence of the bottom edge having been trimmed, with light dings to the bottom corners resulting in a tiny crease in the right one, detectable when viewing the reverse (bottom left when examining the back). Very subtle are two light horizontal creases, at first glance hidden in the dugout steps. To say that, after some not-so-impressive seasons, Sandy stepped it up in the 1960s is an understatement; he became baseball's most dominant hurler, tossing four no-hitters, winning three Cy Young Awards and pacing Los Angeles to three World Series championships. A thought-provoking piece of cardboard awaits your Koufax/RC collection.
