Receiving numerous presentations and awards throughout his life in hockey, Ted Lindsay was honoured routinely during both his playing career and later as an executive and ambassador for the game, and we offer a trio of keepsakes that originate from his personal collection. First, we have a Sportsmen's World Awards trophy presented to Lindsay for “Ice Hockey” in 1969. At approx 20” in height and featuring a gold figure holding a wreath with extended arm over a circular marble base with metal ring (the hand/wreath piece has broken off, but is present), “Sportsmen's World Awards 1969”, “Ted Lindsay” and “Ice Hockey” are engraved to the ring, with the figure attached but able to swivel over the base. There is surface wear present. Next, we have a metal mug with glass bottom presented at the closing of the original Madison Square Garden in 1968, with “Guest of Honor”, “Madison Square Garden” and “Feb 11, 1968” engraved, with heavy damage including large bends and dents. The final item is a judge’s gavel, with the solid wood instrument well turned, with a metal ring affixed with “RB Ted Lindsay” and “President 1970-71 Detroit Red Wings Alumni Association” engraved (there is some minor damage including bends at the base of the engraved metal ring). An LOA from the Lindsay family will accompany.
