Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/31/2022
An obvious fan of the mighty American pastime when he wasn’t dominating NHL competition, this lot offers a group of 8 single-signed baseballs, a circa 1986 Detroit Tigers team-signed baseball and a trio of signed photos, with each originating from the personal collection of NHL superstar and HOFer Ted Lindsay. Included, the single-signed baseballs all appear to be Rawlings Official NL or AL specimens, with the majority signed in blue ballpoint, with signers to include Enos Slaughter, Bobby Doerr, Gaylord Perry, Fergie Jenkins, Dick Allen, Tony Clark, Frank Tanana and Bobby Ross (football). The 1986 Tigers ball is a Wilson “Detroit Tigers” specimen with 23 signing in matching blue ink, including Lance Parrish, Larry Herndon, Alan Trammell, Dwight Lowry, Dan Petry, Dave Bergman, Sparky Anderson (manager), Vada Pinson (coach) and others. The signatures have bled somewhat into the material. The signed photos are 8” x 10” or larger and include Stan Musial (lengthy personalization to Lindsay, with much of the ink worn away), Bill Rogell (personalized to Joann Lindsay) and Ray Nitschke (lengthy personalization to Lindsay), with light to moderate wear to the group. An LOA from the Lindsay family will accompany.
