Once serving as both the youngest player in the NHL at age 19 in 1990 as well as the oldest tenured player still active at age 45 in 2017, Jaromir Jagr dressed for nine different NHL clubs throughout his lengthy career including first and most-famously Pittsburgh, and we offer a photo-matched alternate captain’s Penguins jersey worn by the ageless superstar during the 1996-97 season. Center Ice and Starter labeling is affixed to the collar along with a “54-R” swatch (a handwritten and faded “68 A” also appears), with embroidered Starter and NHL crests over the reverse hem. Styled with the Pens team crest in use from 1992 to 1999, “68” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in layered tackle twill, with “Jagr” across the affixed nameplate in matching material. Sporting heavy game-use with numerous puck and stick marks covering the front, reverse and sleeves along with scrapes, burns, material pulls and pilling, there is also a few small holes on/near the left elbow, with red paint transfer to the lower right sleeve. A Resolution Photomatching document will accompany showing the detailed photo-matches that originate from the games played on Jan 10, 1997 vs the Islanders (Jagr scored three points including a pair of goals), and on Jan 21, 1997 vs Calgary (Jagr had one assist), with the photo-matches to include marks near the team crest and alternate’s “A”, as well as a long stick mark on the upper left reverse.
