Classic Auctions, Blockchain Foundry and the Hawerchuk estate are pleased to announce the initial launch of the "Legendary Hockey Series" of NFTs. Legendary will highlight the career milestones of the greatest players to grace the ice. We are excited to launch this series looking at the iconic career of the incomparable Dale Hawerchuk.
This initial series of three "1 of 1" NFTs will feature three of his most memorable career highlights.
First Overall 1981 NHL Entry Draft Pick by the Winnipeg Jets
1987 Canada Cup Finals Game #3 Third Period Faceoff - Leading to Lemieux's Tournament-Clinching Goal
Hockey Hall of Fame 2001 Induction
It is with great pleasure that we announce the second of a three-part NFT series paying homage to three of the most epic moments of the late Dale Hawerchuk’s career. This second NFT in the series looks at Dale’s third period faceoff in game #3 of the 1987 Canada Cup finals.
After Dale tied-up Vyacheslav Bykov in the faceoff in Canada’s own end late in the third period, Lemieux jumped in to push the puck free and carried it up the ice; feeding it to Gretzky before receiving a return pass to score the tournament-clinching goal. This iconic moment in Canadian hockey history will always be remembered as “The Faceoff”; enshrining Hawerchuk as a national icon and hero to Canadians from coast to coast. This moment will be captured in time and sold by the Hawerchuk estate memorializing this great moment in Canadian hockey.
This exclusive NFT will be the only example of its kind and will be auctioned to the highest bidder. Upon successful completion of the auction, Classic Auctions' partner Blockchain Foundry will transfer ownership of the NFT to the winning bidder.
