Currently serving as the colour analyst covering Nashville Predators games on Bally Sports South, netminder Chris Mason was drafted by New Jersey in 1995, but made his NHL debut for the Predators in 1998-99. From his third full season in Tennessee where he appeared in 51 regular-season games, we have a mask worn with the Predators in 2007-08, specifically beginning in January of 2008 until and including April of 2008 – photo-matched to each month. A Sportmask model with company decal added to the interior, the paint scheme is by Steve Nash of Eyecandyair with signature and “Jan 14, 2008” date added to the interior, and features a coat of arms over the chin section along with Smilodon floridius (sabre-toothed tigers) on each side, and a rose and wings motif on the backplate along with initials and US and Canadian flags. Nice use is shown with some chipping along edges including at the chin, with a few dark marks and surface abrasions also visible.
Getty Image #79213839 (Jan 19, 2008) has been matched to the distinct area of missing white paint within the upper left corner of the cage, with the small area of interior padding visible through the right side of the opening over the ear (the right hole), while Getty Image #79752844 (Feb 12, 2008) has been matched to the distinct area of missing white paint within the upper left corner of the cage. Next, Getty Image #80331424 (March 18, 2008) has been matched to the chip at the bottom corner of the right side of the mask, with the small chip at the very left corner of the blue painted section over the chin also matching (additional chips in the vicinity have occurred after the image was taken). Finally, Getty Image #80480869 (April 1, 2008) has been matched to the chip at the bottom corner of the right side of the mask, with the dark mark above that runs even with the top of the cage also visible.
