Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
Joining the NHL during the expansion of 1967, the Minnesota North Stars played at Bloomington’s Met Center, enjoying 26 seasons before relocating to Dallas in 1993. Although never Stanley Cup champions in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, the club did advance to a pair of finals, in 1981 and 1991. Sporting the original design utilized from the inaugural season of 1967-68 until and including 1974-75, we have a Minnesota team crest that originates from a North Stars jersey from the early-to-mid-1970s. At approx 9” x 9” and in two separate pieces (capital “N” and star), the crest features layered tackle twill, with the green and gold colours reversed for the star. There is a bit of wear, with a small area of material loss near the top of the point on the right side. Currently housed in an 11 ½” x 14” frame, we should note that according to our consignor, this crest and others were originally removed from a set of North Stars jerseys recycled for a local high school hockey team.
