The inaugural winner of the King Clancy Memorial Trophy as the “player who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and who has made a significant humanitarian contribution to his community”, Lanny McDonald is known for his participation with the Special Olympics, involved with the organization since 1974. From his personal collection, we have a stick used by McDonald in an oldtimers capacity, and it has been multi-signed by a number of HOF members and noteworthy stars. A Canadien 6001 model with “McDonald” stamped, this type of stick was used by the 1983 Bill Masterton winner at the end of his career, and sports the original black tape on the blade and white ribbed pattern over the shaved handle. 13 have signed the front side shaft in matching black marker including McDonald, along with Norm Ullman, Gilles Gilbert, Frank Mahovlich, Gilbert Perreault, Guy Lafleur, Pete Mahovlich, Henri Richard, Don Awrey and a few others. A signed LOA from Lanny McDonald will accompany.
