Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021

A first-round draft choice of the San Jose Sharks in 2005, Devin Setoguchi made his NHL debut in 2007-08 and saw action with four different NHL clubs, with additional time spent in Germany. This lot offers a signed stick used by the Albertan with Minnesota in 2012-13, along with a gold throwback helmet worn with the Los Angeles Kings in 2016-17. First, the stick is an Easton RS model with “10 Setoguchi” factory graphics, with the original white tape on the handle (with “G2” handwritten). The blade tape has been removed (outline visible), with Setoguchi signing the front side blade in silver. Exhibiting light use with a few marks to the shaft, the stick was used during the April 9, 2013 match vs Chicago according to the accompanying NHL Alumni COA. The gold helmet was worn with the Kings during the only game of the 2016-17 season the throwback jerseys were worn, on the home opener on Oct 14, 2016 (Getty Image #615851522 Oct 14, 2016 appears to show the “1” of “10” placed slightly higher than the “0”, but this is not enough evidence for a definitive photo-match). As the helmet shows more than a single game of use, and with a production date stick of Sept 23, 2014 affixed to the interior, the helmet was possibly worn during the 2014-15 season by Mike Richards (he wore #10 that season), with Getty Images showing that Chris Versteeg wore the #10 throwback helmet with the Kings in 2015-16 (the Kings wore their throwback jerseys on Nov 10th, Feb 23rd and March 7th), but Getty Image #514244114 (March 8, 2016) shows Versteeg wearing a different model.
