Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/27/2021
For those of you who would like to get in on the Wayne Gretzky rookie card action or for those of you who would like to add to your Gretz RC stash comes this example, just back from KSA headquarters where it received a 5 EX assessment. Touches at the top two corners have left a white speck (top left), with a couple of dings to the right edge also to note, along with a lightly dinged bottom right corner. The image of the whiz kid from Brantford, Ontario is right of center and is one of Wayne not long after he joined the Edmonton Oilers in the World Hockey Association. According to some, the two thin parallel blue lines on the back, (at the bottom of the cartoon), are a sign of OPC's first print run of the blue-bordered cards, although others do not agree. Also visible on the back is a white speck of either color or paper loss in the upper black line of the big skate blade, just above the end of Wayne's surname. An iconic rookie card, in a scratch-free holder, awaits your bid.
