Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
Undervaluing himself, hoping to make the Detroit Red Wings squad despite being traded from the Red Wings to the Montreal Canadiens a year after being drafted, as he felt the Habs were too stocked with youthful talent to make, Yvon Lambert did make an impression with the Canadiens, one that resulted in parts of nine seasons with the club and a pair of Stanley Cup championships. Scoring his first NHL goal for Montreal on Nov 17, 1973, the puck used for the historic marker was saved and preserved by the team on this striking presentation wood and blue anodized aluminum plaque. Featuring a mounted enamel Canadiens CH crest above (there is a large vertical crack that runs through it), the Viceroy puck with Habs logo was originally affixed midway down (the puck is now detached), with the engraved French-language text listing the details including “Yvon Lambert”, “1er But dans la Ligue Nationale de Hockey” and “Date 17 Novembre 1973”. There are numerous scratches to the engraved plate and on the reverse, with glue residue over the area the puck was originally mounted to, with the enamel CH logo cracked as mentioned. Originating from Yvon Lambert’s personal collection, an LOA from Classic Auctions will accompany.
